Ringstead Church of England Primary School

Meet the Ringstead family...

I joined Ringstead Primary School in April 2015 as the EYFS and Year 1 teacher. In September 2019 I became the Head of School and continued to teach in early years. In September 2020, I took on my current role at Ringstead as Headteacher.

In my spare time, I am a Flight Lieutenant within the RAF Reserves.  I am responsible for running the Duke of Edinburgh’s Award across South and East Midlands Wing, which involves supporting over 30 squadrons in enabling cadets to achieve their Bronze, Silver or Gold awards.

I have a young family, consisting of two daughters, who as they age will hopefully enjoy the outdoors as much as my husband and I do!

Teachers:

Hello, I'm Miss Culverhouse. Some parents of older children might remember me from a few years ago when I taught in years 1/2, 3/4 and 4/5! It is lovely to be back, feels like coming home! Outside of school, I enjoy a spot of gardening, woods walks with my family, photography and history.

Miss Lucy Culverhouse

Owl Class Teacher (part-time) / Phonics Lead

I’ve just started at Ringstead this September 2022 and am so excited to get stuck in! I previously taught in a similar-sized school for 9 years and before that, in a school in London. I’ll be teaching Owl class Monday to Wednesday morning and am looking forward to plenty of creative learning both in and outside the classroom.

In my spare time, I’m very involved in our local church sometimes playing or singing in the band, leading mum's groups and helping lead our older youth group.

My husband and I have two teenage daughters and together we love anything to do with the sea and exploring together. We love making campfires, camping, swimming, body boarding and kayaking. If I have any time left, I enjoy gardening, running, getting arty, playing the piano and, best of all, spending time with family and friends and having a good natter!

Mrs Kirsty Clark

Owl Class Teacher (part-time) / RE Lead

Hello, I’m Mrs Tyman, I started teaching at Ringstead School in September 2022.

I love being part of the great team here and it is wonderful to teach the Year 1 children in Robin Class.

In my spare time, I like to read, stay active and spend time with my family. I also like music and can often be heard singing with my class!

Hello, I am Mrs Thornton. I have just started teaching at Ringstead. I will be teaching Falcons Monday – Wednesday. I love the welcoming feel to the school and cannot wait to join the team.

In my spare time, I enjoy spending time with my young family. We enjoy muddy walks and days out!

Mrs Katie Thornton

Hi I’m Miss Titcombe. I have just started teaching at Ringstead. I will be teaching in Falcons on Thursday and Friday. I’m looking forward to becoming part of the team.

In my spare time, I like to read or I’ll be either camping or fishing with my partner.

Miss Paris Titcombe

Flacons Class Teacher (part-time)

I joined Ringstead in September 2011 and have thoroughly enjoyed working with the children and staff.

When not at Ringstead I can often be found at Kettering Hospital where I volunteer as a radio DJ on the internal radio station.

I love travelling and seeing new places in this country and abroad. When relaxing you can find me curled up with a good book or feeding my pet tortoise, Tess.

Miss Julia Grunill

Ravens Class Teacher / History Lead

I joined Ringstead Primary School in September 2019 after being struck by a warm and welcoming environment.  I currently teach the Lions Class and have a real passion for Maths.

In my spare time, I love to play, watch and breathe football. I play more or less every weekend and watch the Mighty Manchester United either on TV or at Old Trafford.

I like to wind down by playing computer games, reading fantasy books or practising my drawing skills. I like to cook and experiment with food which yields various results! However, the best part of cooking is eating! I like to go to different restaurants to try new things even if it sounds odd.

Mr Aaron McKenzie-Smith

Kestrels Class Teacher / Maths Lead / PE Lead

Deputy Safeguarding Lead

I first started working at Ringstead Primary 5 years ago, where I taught PE one morning a week and I absolutely loved it. I did this for 3 years then returned to Manor School in Raunds to continue teaching PE to years 7 to year 11.

I am very excited to start my new position teaching PE 3 days a week and I am looking forward to sharing my passion for all sports, particularly Gymnastics, Athletics and Netball.

In my spare time I love going to the gym, running, cycling and yoga. I also have been lucky enough to have travelled to many different countries and love trying out the local food. My favourite places are Australia, Dubai and America. On the weekends, I enjoy going to the theatre and relaxing with family and friends.

I have 2 children, a son who is training to be a police officer and a daughter who used to attend Ringstead primary school and now she is in her final year of secondary education. When I'm at home I'm looking after my sausage dog, Frankie. I also enjoy painting, drawing and cooking.

Miss Sheryl Jones

Hello, I'm Mrs Dunbar and I am the 1:1 support in Owls class. I started here in January 2022 although I have Known the school as a parent since 2014 when my daughter came to the school. My son currently attends the school. I love spending my spare time with my children and husband going on nature walks, baking, art and craft and going to car racing events.

Mrs Natalie Dunbar

Teaching Assistant - Owl Class

Hello, I’m Mrs Carpenter and I joined the Ringstead family in January 2021 supporting children in KS2 throughout the lockdown periods. I am enjoying my new role of SEN TA and have experience working across both Key Stages.

I have a love of Art and all that’s creative! Previously painted for an Art Printing Company, a few of my paintings can still be purchased now. I have filled my home with paintings, my favourite medium being acrylics on canvas. I also ran an after-school club for filmmaking, inspiring children to storyboard their ideas, a film using all the equipment and act in front of the camera. Editing films and making children’s ideas become a reality fascinates me.

Animals play a big part in my life, and I share my home with a border terrier named BB, a Syrian hamster called Chase and three guinea pigs called Nova, Lou-Lou and Angel. I love being active, taking long walks with my dog and visiting the gym several times a week.

Mrs Kerry Carpenter

Teaching Assistant - Robins Class

I started working at Ringstead first as a parent helper, then as a TA when my eldest son was in Year 3 and my youngest in Reception Class. They have now grown up, one has been to university, and the other is in motor vehicle maintenance.

Before working at Ringstead I worked at Heathrow Airport where I found my love for travelling around the world, visiting all but one of the continents - I hope to get to Antarctica one day. I help at the Ringstead  Scout Group so am often away camping, canoeing and hiking. I enjoy the cinema, going to the theatre or curling up with a good book.

Ms Jan Highmore

Teaching Assistant - Robins Class

I joined Ringstead in September 2017, I have worked across both Key stages, and I thoroughly enjoy it, I like seeing the children be creative, helping them learn and achieve new things,

In my spare time, you'll find me out and about in the local community helping Northamptonshire Fire and Rescue give out fire safety advice as well as being a Fire Cadet leader with the Northamptonshire Emergency Service Cadets and a Civilian Instructor with the Royal Air Force Air Cadets. I really enjoy helping to teach the young people of Northamptonshire to develop skills across our Emergency Services, and the Royal Air Force as well as important life, social, and first aid skills. When I'm not out and about in the community I love to spend time with my nephew, learn new languages I'm currently learning Korean, go to the theatre, travel around South-East Asia, and as a massive Royal Air Force Red Arrows fan going to air shows.
