Pupil Premium

Pupil Premium is additional funding given to publicly funded schools in England to raise the attainment of disadvantaged pupils and close the gap between them and their peers. It is allocated to children from low-income families who are currently known to be eligible for Free School Meals (FSM), Looked after Children, children adopted from care and Service Forces children. It also includes pupils who have been eligible for FSM at any point in the last six years (known as the Ever 6 FSM measure).

The report below will provide information about how we intend to use our funding during the current year and what its impact was over the previous year.

Pupil Premium Strategy Statement

Universal Free School Meals

UFSM is an ongoing government initiative which provides a free school lunch for all pupils in Reception, Year 1 and Year 2. This is not the same as Free School Meals (FSM), which are provided for children whose parents are in receipt of certain benefits, as UFSM do not carry Pupil Premium funding.

Parents of children in Reception, Year 1 and Year 2 who are in receipt of certain benefits need to apply separately to the North Northamptonshire Council to ensure that the Pupil Premium funding is made available to support their child.

Pupil Premium

The pupil premium is additional school funding for disadvantaged children. It is paid directly to your child's school to improve the quality of their education.

Your child's school may be entitled to pupil premium funding if you receive one of the following benefits:

  • Income Support
  • Income Based Job Seekers Allowance
  • Child Tax Credit Only (with income up to £16,190) with no element of Working Tax Credit
  • National Asylum Seekers Support
  • Guarantee Element of the State Pension Credit
  • Employment and Support Allowance (income related)
  • Universal Credit (income dependent)

How does my school get the pupil premium for my child?

Reception, Year 1 and Year 2

All children at this age are eligible for free school meals so you will need to apply separately for the pupil premium for your child's school.

Please be aware that a child must reside with the applicant to receive the pupil premium.

Use the online form via the link below to apply.

Year 3 and above

If your child is in year 3 and above, and you want to check eligibility for pupil premium, please use the free school meals form to apply for pupil premium entitlement.

The school the child is attending will automatically get a pupil premium amount if the child is eligible for free school meals.
