From September 2018 Ringstead Church of England Primary School will be delivering a new school curriculum. We have chosen to redesign our own creative curriculum using the published Cornerstones materials. This gives us the flexibility to tailor our programmes of study to meet our pupils' needs and interests, still ensuring structure, progression and broad coverage - all in line with the statutory requirements of the new National Curriculum. The Cornerstones Curriculum takes a holistic approach to learning, supporting the pupils' spiritual, moral, social and cultural development, as well as their awareness of British Values. This compliments our own Church School ethos and Christian values.
The Cornerstones materials include a very broad range of exciting and inspiring 'imaginative learning projects', with cross curricular themes and creative learning opportunities. Pupils will be learning in a very 'hands on' style. They will be given opportunities to develop and practise essential skills and then apply these skills in a range of different contexts. This will enable pupils to see the relevance of what they are learning and feel the satisfaction and buzz when they know they are succeeding!
The Conerstones philosophy is based around: engaging, developing, innovating and expressing - and we will be doing this with our pupils through learning projects such as: Scrummdiddlyumptious!, Land Ahoy!, A Child's War and Heroes and Villains'.. Expect to hear all about them, all the 'WOW' moments and amazing projects from the children, or speak to class teachers.
